The Founder's Corner: Thank You, Duffy's

This month, I wasn’t sure what to write about. There’s just so much to say.
A huge thank you to Duffy’s Tavern for hosting our first tournament, keeping Jaws, and now adding John Wick to the lineup. We’re building something special here, a community that loves the game, the venues that host them, and the people who play together.

Moving six machines into Duffy’s for a one-day event took days of planning and late nights, but it was worth it. There was the moment when Metallica decided to let four balls into the three-ball coffin and the finals had to stop for a technical repair, messing with Vince’s game, although he still brought home the gold. King Kong spun itself right off the brackets and sent a spinner flying mid-game, totally confusing Joel. Sean was able to diagnose the rule set issues with Kong’s drop target constantly resetting and advancing players toward multiball. But even through all that, the playfields gleamed, the flippers felt crisp, and the energy in the room was electric. There were some tight tilts and wild moments, yet every game played beautifully.
I owe the entire community a huge thanks: the players who filled every slot, the friends who lifted, polished, wired, and kept things running, and my son, our lead technician, who handled every issue with confidence. Watching him take charge of the lineup makes me excited for what’s next.

We’re working to bring all 30 Stern Insider Connected machines to Miami-Dade, aiming for four Stern Army locations with rotating weekly tournaments. If you know a great spot that deserves a Pinball Passport lineup, reach out to info@pinball-passport.com and introduce us.
Between Thanksgiving, IAAPA, and Free Play Florida, we probably can’t run another event until December, but honestly, we already want to do it again.

So come play the machines. Say Pinball Passport sent you. Tell your friends. And I’ll see you on the next multiball.
May your shots be dialed in and your flippers strong,
Jose
